What do you think should be done in cases where a persons uncontrolled dog mauls someone else?

To be honest, when someone brings a dog into their home it becomes their responsibility, but they are not nessesarily the CAUSE of the action. So, in a way, it's like having a child. Unless someone is guilty of causing the child/animals behavior (such as starvation, abuse, or aggresive training) I don't believe it's moral to convict that person to a jail sentence. However, given cases of neglect, or failing to train or restrain the child/dog from harming others, then that person should be held responsable for any and all medical and psychiatric bills.
