Can an adult child get life insurance on their parents without the parents knowledge?

financially challenged and ill parents, feel that if they p we as children will bear a burden we may not be able to afford without insurance on them. just seeking to be helpful but dont want them to know bec. they will expect to inherit the remainder and that is to take care of the remaining parent at that time, not to go shopping with. thanks!
