Does this poem have any irony?

The irony would be that a "primitive" people (chewing skins, bones, hunting with spears) would be so much more civilized that they don't even have a word for war. The "civilized" guy from the southern kingdoms with its airplanes and power is the real barbarian. That reversal of expectations is the source of the irony.
