(America) Would people vote less bigoted if it weren't an anonymous ballot?

So many people voted to strip a minority of their rights, and went home completely comfortable.. and will probably lie about their vote so people don't know they were a bigot. Would prop 8 had ped still, if the ballot wasn't anonymous?
